The Latest on TV: GLAAD Media Awards 2008

Although we've known the actual winners for months now, Bravo will air the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards (honoring the "fair, accurate and inclusive" representations of the GLBT community in film, television, theater, print and other media) tomorrow night at 7:00 PM EST. The program will be a condensed version of the group's events in New York, South Florida, Los Angeles and San Francisco held earlier this year.

So why bother tuning in if we already know who won? To star watch, of course. Celebrity presenters, winners and guests who may appear on the telecast include Calpernia Addams, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin, Bryan Batt, Jennifer Beals, Candis Cayne, Kate Clinton, Wilson Cruz, Alan Cumming, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Loretta Devine, Sally Field, Tom Ford, Balthazar Getty, Christopher Gorham, Kathy Griffin, Rachel Griffiths, Tim Gunn, Van Hansis, Mariska Hargitay, Cheyenne Jackson, Janet Jackson, Leslie Jordan, T.R. Awards Watch: GLAAD SF

The last of the GLAAD Media Awards ceremony was held last night in San Francisco.

In addition to awards for Sharon Stone, L Word creator Ilene Chaiken, Brokeback Mountain producer James Schamus and The Advocate, the prize for Outstanding Television Movie or Mini-Series went to here! TV's The DL Chronicles. Also a winner: the Levi's "Change" commercial, which also aired as a heterosexual version.

A television broadcast of the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which will include coverage from all four of this year's ceremonies, will air on Bravo June 27.

Television favorites Brothers & Sisters, Ugly Betty and Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List were honored "for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community" at the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles last night. It is the second year in a row that Brothers and Betty won in their respective categories.

Also recognized for their contributions to visibility and equality were Janet Jackson, Rufus Wainwright and the late Herb Ritts.

Out in Film: Wilson Cruz

Idol worship: Wilson Cruz, actor.

- As Rickie Vasquez on the cult TV classic My So-Called Life, he was one of the first openly gay actors to play an openly gay character on network television. After Life ended, he guest starred on Ally McBeal, ER, The West Wing and had recurring roles on Party of Five and Noah's Arc.

- On film, he has appeared in Nixon, Johns, Party Monster, Bam Bam and Celeste and the popular gay rom com Coffee Date.

- He made his Broadway debut playing the cross-dressing performance artist Angel in Rent.

- He currently voices Evan on the LOGO comedy series Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World and will return to Noah's Arc for the upcoming movie version.

- At the recent GLAAD Media Awards, he was the recipient of their Visibilidad Award, honoring "openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender media professionals who have made a significant difference in promoting equal rights for our community".
